[audio]Ennio Mazzon - The Possibility Of Joy - Ennio Mazzon
Ennio Mazzon is an Italian sound artist. I first heard of him as a remixer of Off Land's "Input Shape". But he did netaudio-releases on Audiotalaia and Timetheory and a CDr-release on his own imprint "Ripples Recordings", as well as various sampler-contributions. "The Possibility Of Joy" contains 4 tracks with a complete duration of about 22 minutes. Most of the material seems to be generated with synthesizers and electronical equipment with a little addition of field recordings in some parts...

[audio]Environments - George Orwell’s Glass House - Environments
Environments is a slow, continual, and site-specific side project of the members of Celer, Will Long & Danielle Baquet-Long. The sound based on 100% field-recordings, typically left completely unprocessed. This 15-minute piece was recorded in Isla Vista, California, at George Orwell's glass house. The recording is very raw and rough, because of heavy wind, and very basic recording equipment: a Nikon digital camera...

[audio]cloudburst - katedra - cloudburst
cloudburst is Tim Westcott from Portland, Oregon. On his first release "katedra", he operates with very minimal, subtle drones and little repetitive elements, shifting into each other. Originally written for a performance in cathedral space, the first two pieces ("katedra jeden", "katedra dwa") are very light, crystal and create a wide open, meditative soundscape. The third piece ("flora") is a more dense production, just taking you back from the big, enormous "katedra"...

[audio]HameloH - Innervibes - HameloH
HameloH is a one-man project from Macomer, Sardinia. On "Innervibes" he presents 7 pieces of experimental drone sounds layered with strings, keyboards and voices. According to the title "Innervibes" this release could be described as an inner journey. Mostly dark with some sparks of shining light. In some parts mysterious, in some parts disturbing or rough and sometimes peaceful and meditative. But in all parts a great sonical experiment.

Simultan is the project of sound artist and graphic designer Cristiano Rinaldi. [audio]The Cherry Blues Project - The Psychiatric Years EP Vol. 2 - The Cherry Blues Project
"The Psychiatric Years EP" is rescued material from TCBP, about 4-5 years old, compiled into two EPs. "Vol. 2" contains 8 tracks. All rather short, between 1:30 and 3:30 minutes. And the tracks can be seen as little folk-tales. Main themes are rebellion, madness, loneliness, despair and death. And so the mood swings between dark, melancolic and engrossed. The recording-quality is pretty low but in my ears that gives the record a charming outfit...

Julien Skrobek was born in Paris. As a teacher, he naturally became interested in the process of memorization and his work revolves around the relation between music, silence and memory. The main question it asks is: If I hear a note of music, when do I need to hear the next one in order to be able to build upon its trace?
